Donation helps to get children moving - HÜBNER supports the initiative “Sport Vernetzt” of the ACT Kassel

Getting children moving – this is the motto of the HÜBNER Group’s annual donation. With around 15,000 euros, the company supports the “Sport Vernetzt” (“Sports networked”) initiative of the Aeltere Casseler Turngemeinde (ACT). The sports club offers an inclusive, free and low-threshold sports and exercise program for children in Kassel from socially challenging backgrounds.

Donation for essential work in challenging times

“With our products, we provide moving trains and buses, and with our support we want to make a contribution to providing children with a good range of exercise,” says Claus Schäfer, Managing Director of the HÜBNER Group. “Despite economically challenging times, it is important to us to promote the essential work of social and cultural institutions in the vicinity of our locations. Children deserve our special attention.”

Strengthening local structures at the location

HÜBNER supports the “Sport Vernetzt” project and thus promotes network structures between sports clubs, daycare centres, primary schools and many other local stakeholders in the immediate vicinity of the company’s headquarters in the Waldau district of Kassel. Since 2021, ACT has been successfully promoting the joy of doing sports together among over 250 children in various districts of Kassel every week via “Sport Vernetzt”.

During a joint sports session with children from the Waldau primary school, Claus Schäfer handed over the donation to Jonny Klink, Managing Director of ACT. Not only children became active, but also Martina Schürholz from Occupational Health Management at HÜBNER and the trainees Annika Schukow and Charleen Fuchs.

Every child should have opportunities

“Regular exercise is crucial for the physical and mental development of children. Sporting activities not only promote health, but also social skills and self-confidence,” says ACT Managing Director Jonny Klink. “Our goal is to give every child in the neighborhood the opportunity to develop freely and playfully. The donation from HÜBNER helps us a lot to offer the low-threshold sports activities for children on site in the districts of Kassel.”

This support makes it possible to further advance upcoming projects in various districts of Kassel and to make them better known in order to reach even more children. The “Sport Vernetzt” initiative regularly visits daycare centres and schools and offers children in their immediate vicinity the opportunity to develop in a playful and social way. The participants are actively involved in the design of the exercise offers. In this way, the creativity, imagination and self-confidence of the children are strengthened.

Sports and exercise facilities on site

The “Sport Vernetzt” project organises weekly sports and exercise activities as well as regular events during the care period, leisure time and holiday season in various local facilities in the districts. The activities are accompanied by qualified instructors from the ACT. More about the “Sport Vernetzt” initiative at: https://actkassel.de/projekte
