Into the future
HÜBNER Photonics produces cutting edge laser light sources and is making important developments in other wave-based technologies such as terahertz imaging. HÜBNER Photonics brings together the proven values of the HÜBNER Group with creative ideas and state-of-the-art technology in its developments for applications in the whole electromagnetic spectrum.
These efforts are supported by enduring standards that have shown their worth for more than 70 years in the HÜBNER company:
- Highest quality workmanship
- Absolute reliability
- Outstanding durability
HÜBNER Photonics is developing sophisticated devices and solutions that help to increase security and improve the quality of our everyday lives, increase quality and efficiency in industrial processes, and improve environmental protection for all of us.
HÜBNER engineers make it their daily business to work at turning visions into reality – and to support partners and customers with absolutely reliable technologies. Through the integration of the Swedish laser manufacturer Cobolt in 2015, the HÜBNER Group strengthened its expertise in advanced technologies. On this basis, we can provide the quality and the capacity that's required in the industry. Because reliability, precision and coherence are of the utmost importance in the field of laser technology.

Coherence matters
What is coherence?
When two waves have the same frequency and at the same time have a fixed phase spacing, then they are entirely coherent. In a certain way, this condition sums up everything that HÜBNER Photonics stands for. In this context, coherence means much more than just the perfect interaction of energy waves. It is the basis of our daily work and the foundation on which we build our business and our relationships – within the company and outside it to our partners.
What does coherence stand for?

We bring energy to the
perfect point
Red, green, blue. The wave length of a laser can be identified through its color. Because in contrast to the "normal" light that one encounters in a light bulb or an LED lamp, the light particles of a laser – the so-called photons – all have an identical wavelength and thus generate the same color.
But it is not only a particular color that distinguishes the light of a laser. It is this perfect identity in the wavelength of the laser's photons – which is known as coherence in the field – that makes it so that laser light is emitted in a constant and focused beam that brings energy to a precise point.

Laser applications in industry
These special characteristics of laser light make the laser a unique tool for a highly diverse set of applications. Optical processes utilizing laser light are employed in more and more areas – from basic research, to diverse applications in the Life Sciences such as microscopy and spectroscopy, to the deployment of lasers in industrial production.
Whether in quality control, medical examinations or in data storage – it is lasers that are providing the basis for the newest technologies and processes. And the megatrend in the digital industry – Augmented Reality – also depends on laser technology.
HÜBNER has brought together its worldwide activities in the fields of laser technology and terahertz technology in its Photonics business unit. The company aims to make a wide array of outstanding products available for photonics applications – and to deliver a coherent and consistently high level of quality in all its products and services.
