A smart, flexible and resource-saving world-first innovation! The HÜBNER Group is working on an innovative solution that will facilitate a fully automatic coupling of gangway systems in passenger trains. On this basis, it will be possible to adjust carrying capacities more quickly in response to passenger demand, while saving both time and personnel costs. 

In addition to saving on maintenance and repair costs, this will also make it possible to reduce downtimes and to optimize the ecological footprint in passenger operations. The system will be particularly robust and should make it possible to provide integrated electric power and data transmission from car to car. With the HÜBNER AutoCouple System it will be possible for transit companies to carry out safer and more efficient coupling processes during operation at the press of a button – in contrast to the current manual processes that are in use.

HÜBNER FrontAdd System

Aerodynamic and robust: The newly developed HÜBNER FrontAdd System effectively protects vehicle equipment at the front end of the power unit from extreme environmental impacts such as sand, moisture, snow and small objects. This minimizes component wear and increases vehicle availability. 

In addition, the FrontAdd System improves the aerodynamics of the vehicle by optimizing air resistance. This reduces the average energy consumption and thus CO2 emissions as well. HÜBNER FrontAdd System is compatible with all train-to-train connection systems and can be seamlessly integrated into rail vehicles. And a special plus: It also reduces noise levels in the driver’s cab.

Digital Driver Assistance
with Innovative Tram Simulator

Intelligent, reliable and robust: GERSYS GmbH, a HÜBNER Group company, supplies driver assistance systems and multifunctional displays for the tram cockpits of the future. The simulator is the product of a cooperation with IABG (Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH) based in Ottobrunn, Germany, and the Munich Public Transport company (MVG). It simulates how, in future, vehicle personnel will be able to receive additional digital information so as to identify dangerous situations at the earliest possible moment. It represents an important step towards greater safety in transit operations with systems from GERSYS. These systems offer customized design options, modular device construction and unprecedented long-term durability. 

How such a digitally supported tram control system of the future will work can be seen at the IABG booth in CityCube A / Booth 240.

Flexible and energy efficient: 
Upper articulations from HEMSCHEIDT Engineering 

HEMSCHEIDT Engineering’s broad portfolio of rotary, pitch and pitch-roll articulation systems also includes especially roll-flexible articulation systems meeting the latest technical requirements as well as special models such as pivoting articulations with wishbone connections and pitching articulations with Panhard rods. The articulation components can be used and adjusted in all interfaces and can be flexibly manufactured to meet customer requirements. Spring preload and passive or active damper solutions for lateral roll damping, straight-line damping and general shock absorption can also be easily integrated – all with the highest levels of quality and reliability.

The low weight of these components also provides an added degree of sustainability. The traditional heavy-weight upper vehicle articulations, which were typically made of die-cast parts, have now been replaced by a new, patented design using sheet metal elements. This reduces overall weight of the components and allows for improved energy efficiency in the vehicles.
